At the beginning of the year, Civiltec was contracted by California American Water (CAW) to perform rehabilitation improvements at the Garth Booster Pump Station and the Scott Booster Pump Station. A few months later, CAW reached out to Civiltec once more and selected the firm to begin work on another Booster Pump Station improvement project.
This station has several pumps that are at the end of their service life and can no longer perform well, if at all. Further, the pumps’ piping is experiencing problems and causes the pump room to flood periodically.
For this new project, Civiltec will be completing a report to analyze the station’s current situation and to determine which pumps should be replaced. The team will also determine the suitable size of the pumps so that they can meet the demand of the system.
Once this phase is complete and has been approved, Civiltec will begin creating drawings and specifications to install new pumps, piping, and any other work that needs to be done to accommodate the new pumps. Civiltec will assist CAW in getting the project out to bid, as well as answering any questions during construction.
Similar to the first two projects, Shem Hawes will serve as Principal-in-Charge while Greg Ripperger will implement Hydraulic Analysis. They may be assisted by other Civiltec team members, such as David Prinzhorn, Jorge Martinez, Charlie Devine, Gretel Ochoa, and Atenas Reynaga.
Civiltec kicked off the project on May 11, 2017. The project is expected to take six to nine months to complete. Once completed, CAW will have new, efficient pumps with improved piping to regulate flow.
