Our History

1986

Civiltec was founded by Richard Shroads, PE, PLS in Pasadena, California focused on private development, subdivision design and federal design-build projects.

1992

Six years after the founding the company grows and expands in staff and services including water engineering, environmental, and general municipal engineering with the addition of W. David Byrum, PE and others.

1993

Held the opening of the Prescott, Arizona office and its mission of providing quality civil engineering services to central and northern Arizona. Transportation engineering, wastewater engineering and surveying were also added to the list of services.

1999

Civiltec moves to today’s headquarters office in Monrovia, California.

1999

Richard Shroads and Chris Dusza, PE, CFM opened the Peoria, Arizona office widening the scope with an expertise in floodplain management, water system analysis, storm drain systems and more.

2007

Chris Duzsa became an owner and a Principal in the firm!

2014

Shem Hawes, PE, became an owner and Principal in the firm.

2015

Rick moved into a Founder role and serves in an advisory role for the firm. Mr. Byrum became President and Mr. Dusza became Vice President and expanded his role to oversee the company’s Arizona operations.

2017

David Song, PE, became an owner and Principal in the firm.

2018

Andrew Shroads, PE, CFM became an owner and principal in the firm. Civiltec added in-house electrical/controls engineering to its list of services.

2020

We proudly opened our fourth office in Fullerton, California.

2022

Civiltec has been officially designated “A Great Place to Work.”

2023

Civiltec in  January opens Phoenix, Arizona office to service more central Arizona clients.

In April we opened our sixth office in Upland, California.

Today

Civiltec is a premier civil and electrical engineering firm specializing in water and wastewater, drainage and transportation engineering and surveying through California and Arizona.
