Civiltec Engineering is currently managing the construction of the Plateau Summit Booster Station and Pipeline Replacement Project, a vital effort that underscores the City of La Verne’s ongoing dedication to strengthening water reliability and improving system performance. This project marks a key milestone in creating a more resilient and efficient water infrastructure to meet the community’s growing demands.
The project is designed to strengthen La Verne’s overall water distribution system by replacing older infrastructure and improving how water is pumped to higher elevation areas. The existing 16-inch transmission pipeline is being replaced to enhance reliability and efficiency, ensuring that water can move smoothly through the system with fewer interruptions. Simultaneously, the construction of the new Zone 3 Booster Station aims to increase water pressure and ensure consistent flow, particularly during peak demand and emergency situations. Together, these upgrades will provide the City with greater control over its water delivery system, while lowering maintenance costs and extending the lifespan of essential infrastructure.
Construction efforts include the installation of the new underground pipeline, lining a portion of existing pipeline, integration of the booster station’s pumps and control systems, and coordination with existing water lines and electrical components. The project also involves implementing modern monitoring and control technology so the City can operate and maintain the system more efficiently. Once both components are complete, the upgraded facilities will create a more resilient and flexible system, equipped to meet the evolving water needs of La Verne’s residents and businesses now and into the future.
Leading the project from Civiltec’s Fullerton office, Shem Hawes, PE, is diligently managing all facets of the work from coordinating weekly meetings and reviewing contractor submittals to overseeing field activities and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Since completion, the Plateau Summit Booster Station and Pipeline Replacement Project have enhanced pumping reliability, operational flexibility, and long-term resiliency for La Verne’s water distribution system, supporting the City’s ongoing efforts to modernize its infrastructure and provide dependable service to the community.
