Pilot Bore In Progress

The City of Prescott Capital Improvement Project (CIP) utility upgrade project started in 2015, but was put on hold due to City budgeting, easement and other priorities. It was reactivated in 2019 so that Civiltec could prepare a set of stand-alone bid documents for designing and constructing a Horizontal Directional Drilling project. The project will link two existing City water lines via a horizontal directional drilling (HDD) process using a 12-inch DR9 high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipeline.

This 700-foot-long alignment shortcut will eliminate about 2,500 linear feet of pipeline installation in narrow residential roadways with a significant number of utility conflicts. The 6-inch diameter pilot hole has been bored and the contractor is in the process of reaming the final 20-inch hole for the installation of the 12-inch HDPE pipe. Anticipated project completion is scheduled for the end of 2019.

Prescott Branch Manager Richard Aldridge is the Principal Engineer on the project with assistance from Staff Surveyor Ken Davidson, Ben Tilman and Jesse Tilman.
