Earlier this year, Civiltec collaborated with Microvi to integrate a state-of-the-art biological treatment system for removal of nitrate from two of Sunny Slope Water Company’s drinking water production wells. Created by Microvi, this new nitrate removal technology is called Denitrovi™: the process dramatically reduces the level of nitrates from 35-40 mg/L to levels below 10 mg/L without creating a secondary waste stream.

Civiltec and Microvi installed the new nitrate technology at the beginning of the year. The Sunny Slope commercial plant now produces over 200 million gallons of clean water annually to 30,000 customers in California.

Civiltec was very excited to be a part of this breakthrough water treatment process, which is the first full-scale nitrate bio-process that does not generate waste and has achieved rigorous California Division of Drinking Water (DDW) and NSF/ANSI 61 certifications.
