Reservoir 10A Rehabilitation
La Habra Heights County Water District
Civiltec Engineering Inc. was excited to provide an update on our Rehabilitation of Reservoir 10A project for the La Habra Heights County Water District (LHHCWD). This essential project aimed to enhance the reservoir’s functionality and extend its service life, ensuring reliable water storage for the community. Starting on May 13, 2024, the project involved extensive refurbishment activities managed by Paso Robles Tank Inc., with J. Colon as the subcontractor. The project’s overall scope included the removal of old coatings, thorough interior and exterior cleaning, and applying new protective layers to enhance durability.
After removing the old coal tar coatings, extensive sandblasting prepared the interior surfaces for the next steps. The next phase involved constructing appurtenances (staircases, rails, interior ladders, center vents, and hatches) and enhancements to the structural integrity and accessibility features. Coordination was key to this project’s success. Regular progress meetings with LHHCWD and contractor representatives ensured smooth execution and timely resolution of any issues.
The dedicated project team, including Project Manager W. David Byrum, PE, and Project Engineers Steven Walker, PE, Gretel Ochoa, PE, and Sanjay Verma, PE, was diligent in maintaining communication, documenting daily work progress, and managing material deliveries to keep the project on track. The project was completed on schedule with continuous efforts to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety were met.
