Civiltec Engineering is proud to partner with SoCal SCADA Solutions to deliver vital upgrades to Irvine Ranch Water District’s (IRWD) SCADA communication infrastructure. Led by Project Manager David Song, PE, this effort addresses growing challenges from radio interference and urban development within the district’s service area.

The IRWD Radio Towers Improvements Project enhances communication across four critical sites: Signal Peak, IDF, Williams Canyon, and Well 76. These upgrades are essential to maintaining reliable operations.

Civiltec is implementing tailored solutions at each location, including the engineering design of new radio towers ranging from 40 to 90 feet tall. Each tower is supported by robust structural and electrical systems, with an emphasis on safety. Features such as fall protection and deterrents against unauthorized access ensure secure and efficient operation well into the future.

Collaboration has been key to advancing the project. Civiltec has coordinated with regulatory agencies, including the FAA and FCC, as well as with Southern California Edison, to ensure the design meets the highest standards while minimizing disruption to surrounding communities and services.

This project underscores IRWD’s commitment to innovation and resilience. By modernizing its communication systems, the district is not only solving current operational challenges but also preparing its infrastructure for future demands.

We are honored to contribute to this forward-looking effort, combining technical expertise with a focus on long-term community benefits. Once complete, the IRWD Radio Towers Improvements Project will deliver a more reliable, resilient communication network for its SCADA system —ensuring uninterrupted service to the communities IRWD proudly supports.
