Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Street Improvements

Town of Chino Valley

Civiltec is proud to see another successful design that has reached construction. The Town of Chino Valley tasked the Civiltec team, led by Richard Aldridge, PE, with their Fiscal Year 2022/2023 Street Improvement projects. This initiative included several design projects that began in November 2021 and was split into two phases.

The first phase, or 2022 street improvements, involved supplying design plans and preparing cost estimates for over 11,180 linear feet of roadway. The four project areas include:

  • East Road 2 South from South State Route 89 to South Road 1 East, totaling 2,000 linear feet of roadway.
  • North Road 1 West from West Road 1 North to West Road 2 North, totaling 2,700 linear feet of roads.
  • West Road 4 ½ North from North Reed Road to North Road 1 West, encompassing 5,430 linear feet of road.
  • Antelope Drive includes a 100’ diameter cul-de-sac at the south end of the road, with a total of 1,050 linear feet of road.

Our work began with a topographic survey of the existing centerline, edge of pavements, edge of shoulders, visible utility appurtenances within the pavement areas, and the preparation of plan/profile sheets with cross-sections and standard details for the improvements on each roadway. This 11,180 linear feet project did not include realignments or drainage improvements, and pavement replacements were performed where necessary. A construction cost estimate and special provisions were prepared by our team to publicly bid the work.

The second phase included:

  • East Road 1 South from South State Route 89 to South Road 1 East, a 2,050 linear feet project.
  • South Road 1 East from East Fletcher Court to East Road 3 South, including a gravity sewer line and a new (dry) waterline for future connections, covering about 6,200 linear feet.
  • Campbell Ave, including a 100’ diameter cul-de-sac at the south end of the road, with a total of 1,050 linear feet.

Our team surveyed for this second phase as well, and final measurements confirmed that the total length of FY2023 roadway construction is approximately 9,250 linear feet. This project was particularly interesting due to the inclusion of new water and sewer line systems. These two new lines required Yavapai County Development Services’ Approval to Construct permits for both the water and sewer improvements. Work on both of these phases is now complete, with the final completion marked in August 2023.

As mentioned, the project team was led by Richard Aldridge, PE, the branch manager of our Prescott office. Additionally, Chris Dusza, PE, CFM, served as principal overseeing the quality of work performed. Ben Townsend, PE, was the project engineer, and major design work was performed by Mark Myers. Surveying efforts were led by our Arizona surveying manager, Ben Tilman, PLS. We extend our gratitude to our dedicated staff and the streamlined communication from the Town of Chino Valley. We are thrilled to continue supporting your roads, water, and sewer infrastructure, ensuring they run smoothly for your residents.
