Civiltec Engineering was selected to provide Covina Irrigating Company (CIC) with professional surveying, engineering and construction management services for the San Bernardino Road Pipeline Replacement Project.

The project will consist of replacing approximately 3,600 feet of 28-inch pipeline with a new 30-inch ductile iron pipe in San Bernardino Road from the Baldwin Park Pumping Station to Irwindale Avenue. The construction will be broken into two phases. Phase 1A will be approximately 1,800 feet in length, starting at the Baldwin Park Pumping Plant. Phase 1B will also be approximately 1,800 feet in length, picking up where Phase 1A stops and continuing to Irwindale Avenue. The mid-point in the Phases is alongside Manzanita Elementary School.

The project is not without its challenges: San Bernardino Road is chock-full of other utilities, making it difficult to find a place to construct the new pipeline. Civiltec has completed the 30% design submittal so far.

Project Manager Greg Ripperger leads the project with assistance from Staff Engineers Charlie Devine and Gretel Ochoa-Nhac, and Drafter Michael Malcolm.
