City of Azusa Light & Water Projects Reach Milestones

City of Azusa Light & Water

Civiltec Engineering is proud to announce its ongoing collaboration with Azusa Light & Water to enhance the city’s water infrastructure. This partnership includes several upcoming pivotal projects to improve water reliability and safety: the construction of a new 4-million-gallon prestressed concrete tank and the replacement of a 12-inch steel pipeline. The new tank, designed to replace the existing, badly cracked south tank, will be equipped with state-of-the-art piping connections and site improvements. Once operational, the old tank will be demolished, marking a significant milestone in Azusa’s commitment to maintaining robust and efficient water systems.

The second project focuses on the Sierra Madre pipeline, a crucial component of Azusa’s water distribution network. Civiltec Engineering will provide detailed design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for replacing a 1,000-foot-long section of the aging steel pipeline. This replacement will include crossing an existing irrigation canal, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding infrastructure. Both projects are slated for construction in 2025, contingent on funding availability, to address the current issues of leakage and ensure a reliable water supply for the residents of Azusa.

Leading the project team is W. David Byrum, who serves as the Principal in Charge, ensuring all phases meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Terry Kerger, the Senior Project Engineer, brings a wealth of experience to the design and planning stages. Charles Devine, Senior Staff Engineer, supports the project with his extensive expertise in engineering solutions. Additionally, Timothy Kwan, PE, provides specialized support for the pipeline aspects of the projects. Together, this team of seasoned professionals ensures that every detail is meticulously planned and executed, reflecting Civiltec Engineering’s commitment to excellence.
