Surveyor Spotlight: Brandon Robin
Brandon Robin is approaching his first anniversary with Civiltec Engineering! With a background in surveying within the oil and gas industry, Brandon has spent the past year contributing his expertise in boundary work, infrastructure layout, and pipeline connections to our team. His certifications in safety and technical skills underscore his commitment to quality and precision. Let’s hear more from him about his first year with our team:
What initially drew you to a career in surveying, and what has been the most rewarding part of your journey so far?
I mean, who doesn’t like being outside? I’m pretty sure that’s the very reason we all get into surveying. Getting to hike around a national Forest while learning and advancing your career everyday, it doesn’t get much better than that if you ask me.
What specific skills or lessons from your background do you find most useful at Civiltec?
Some of the most important lessons I’ve learned are you have to tackle every project as a team, no question is a dumb question, and we all work as a team to get the job done efficiently and accurately. Also, communication throughout the company top to bottom seems to be the key to success.
What do you enjoy most about working with Civiltec’s clients and team?
The team at Civiltec was some of the most welcoming people I’ve ever come across, and the clients I’ve dealt with have been amazing.
Outside of work, you’re very active outdoors. Can you tell us about a recent adventure or your favorite outdoor activity?
Recently I organized a meet with my buddies, We all took our SXSs, quads, and dirt bikes up to The Cinders, in Flagstaff! We got to ride in and out of old volcanoes, some of them were almost 1000ft from the base to the peak.
Your interest in working on cars is unique! What’s one project you’ve worked on recently, or do you have a dream car to work on?
I’ve recently had a daughter, so the car fund has dried up, but I had some parts for the buggy lying around, so I’ve been tearing it down checking the valves and swapping out the timing chain tensioner. I’m also swapping out the stock axles for aftermarket ones.
How would you describe the culture at Civiltec to someone considering joining the team?
I can’t speak for the other offices but I’ll say that The Prescott office has one of the most fun office cultures I’ve seen in a workplace! Everyone means business but they are not scared to have a good laugh.
As you hit your first year with Civiltec, what are you looking forward to accomplishing in the year ahead?
I’d like to get my drone license and start doing some of the drone work we end up with in the future.
