As Civiltec Engineering enters its 40th year, the firm is proud to announce the addition of three new Associates, Gretel Ochoa-Nhac, PE, Heber Torres, PE, and Ben Townsend, PE. This milestone reflects not only individual achievement, but Civiltec’s continued commitment to long-term stability, leadership development, and internal ownership.
The Associate role represents a meaningful step in Civiltec’s leadership structure, bridging the transition between senior technical leadership and future ownership. Associates take on expanded responsibility for mentoring teams, strengthening client relationships, supporting firm operations, and contributing to the firm’s strategic direction.
The Associate program strengthens continuity for clients and creates clear growth pathways for employees by formalizing leadership that is already shaping the firm. By investing in experienced professionals who embody Civiltec’s values, the firm reinforces its ability to serve communities with consistency, insight, and long-term commitment.

Over more than a decade with the firm, she has developed strong client relationships, built collaborative teams, and found particular fulfillment in mentoring others. That commitment to helping others succeed is central to her leadership approach.

As an Associate, Gretel is especially passionate about contributing to Civiltec’s continued growth, both by strengthening existing client relationships and helping expand the firm’s reach through quality work and collaboration. Her planning and modeling expertise continues to support communities as they plan for reliable water service, fire protection, conservation, and long-term infrastructure investments.

Known for his technical precision and client-focused approach, Heber plays a key role in aligning electrical design excellence with project delivery, operational needs, and long-term client relationships. As an Associate, he will continue strengthening those connections while supporting the strategic growth of Civiltec’s services.
“Civiltec’s success has always been built on strong client partnerships,” Heber shared. “As an Associate, I’m focused on continuing to build those relationships while helping expand our services, team, and capabilities.”

With more than 20 years of experience in civil engineering, Ben provides steady leadership across a wide range of municipal and infrastructure projects, supported by strong relationships with local agencies and communities.
For Ben, being named an Associate represents both recognition and responsibility. “This milestone reflects the work I’ve put in, technically and in building relationships, and motivates me to continue contributing to Civiltec’s long-term success,” he said.
