This January marks the 20th annual National Mentoring Month, an initiative aimed at expanding opportunities for young professionals. As part of Civiltec’s commitment to advancing the engineering profession and giving back to the community, Civiltec brings in college talent each summer for a robust internship program and seeks to mentor students of engineering at every opportunity.
Civiltec’s internship program exposes students to a variety of disciplines, including civil engineering, survey, and marketing. Interns have the opportunity to work directly with Civiltec’s experts on a variety of hands-on projects, giving them tangible experience in navigating the daily responsibilities of a full-service engineering firm.
Civiltec hosted five summer interns in 2019, one of whom joined the team as a full time Staff Engineer the following year. In 2020, two interns joined the firm for the summer and both returned during winter break to continue growing their experience with Civiltec.
“Fostering talent is one of our core values at Civiltec,” said President W. David Byrum. “I’m proud of our team for actively seeking opportunities to share their wisdom and experience with aspiring engineers. In turn, the students we mentor make valuable contributions to the firm through their work as interns. We all have something to learn from one another.”
