Julie Padilla

Electrical Designer

We’re so happy to have you on our team! Now that it has been a few months, we’d love to know a little bit more about you! Let’s get started, shall we?

What did you do before joining Civiltec? (Work/School)

Before joining Civiltec, I went to school for interior design and pursued that career for many years. However, it was a commute and I was ready for a change in something in the industry that was more specific and technical. That’s when I joined NPL. I was able to design and document the construction and installation of gas pipelines.

What made you decide to pursue engineering?

When I was in school, the technical aspect of the design industry was always my favorite part. Being able to design in AutoCAD and see it come to life is very rewarding.

What drew you to work for Civiltec?

An ex-coworker told me about the company and how great they are. I have had very little experience with electrical design but knew AutoCAD and drafting. The opportunity to be able to help develop and grow the electrical aspect of the company was very intriguing and rewarding.

What do you enjoy about your day-to-day work?

Every project is enjoyable because every project is similar but is also very different. Being able to start a project from the beginning to the final submission is very satisfying.

What has been one highlight of the past three months? (A favorite project or day?)

For me, I can’t highlight a specific day or project just yet. It has been a highlight for me in learning, growing, and understanding the electrical operations and new ways and processes of AutoCAD. Working closely with others to get the project completed as a team.

What is the number one thing on your bucket list?

I have so many things on my bucket list, but the main one is to do more traveling.

What do you do besides working?

When I’m not at work, I’m hanging out with my family and friends. Going to concerts, camping, and working on my house and yard.
