Sanjay Verma, PE
Senior Project Engineer – Monrovia
Where did you attend college, and what did you study?
I graduated from BIT Sindri India in 1990 with my Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. My major was in Environmental and Structural Engineering.
What drew you to working for Civiltec?
My career in the water industry started in 2001 when I decided to move to the United States. I joined a consulting firm focused on the water industry, and for the next eight years I worked on water and wastewater-related projects. In that role, I helped with projects such as retrofitting reservoirs to accommodate new seismic loads, upgrading reservoirs for new and increased demand, and building a large pump station for one of the water wholesalers in Ventura county.
Civiltec brings many disciplines under one roof, allowing me to apply civil and structural engineering to water, wastewater and other industrial needs.
What do you like best about working at Civiltec so far?
The staff and management at Civiltec have made me feel as if I were not new to the office. In addition to the welcoming atmosphere, I appreciate having easy access to old projects and data. The ability to learn from past experience is immensely useful.
What are some of your favorite types of projects to work on?
I enjoy the everyday challenges of my role, whether related to a pipeline project, pump station project, or structural project. There is always something new to learn, and I get to use engineering skills to solve problems.
When you are not working, how do you like to spend your time?
Recently I’ve developed a hobby in landscape photography. It is fun to observe and photograph nature in its variety of forms.
