Civiltec partner David Song recently volunteered at Union Station Homeless Services in Pasadena. Union Station Homeless Services is a nonprofit organization, part of a premier group of human services agencies in Los Angeles County that are leading the way to ending homelessness in our community.

“I worked with Natasha, a full time employee with Homless Services who is the head chef and lead services director for all meal times,” said David. “We served breakfast to about 30 clients [term used instead of ‘homeless’].”

Volunteering alongside David were Adrian and Chelsea of the Friendship Pasadena Church and John, the Principal of Chandler School. Both John and members of the church group serve at Homeless Services regularly. The team of volunteers were assigned various tasks, including sorting food in the pantry, dispose of expired food, cooking breakfast, setting up the tables, serving clients, and washing dishes. Breakfast was made up of hashbrowns, sausage, french toast, orange juice, milk, coffee, and fruit.

“I had a wonderful time serving clients and getting to know the volunteers and Natasha. Natasha handles breakfast and lunch meals five days a week, many times with no volunteers. This is definitely an event that the Civiltec will continue to help out for future outings.”
