Located in the south-central region of Los Angeles County, the Compton Unified School District (CUSD) encompasses the City of Compton and portions of the cities of Carson and Los Angeles. The district currently serves nearly 26,000 students at 36 sites. CUSD contracted the Civiltec team to provide professional land surveying services to prepare topographic mapping for 32 of its campuses.
The topographic mapping will be completed using aerial survey. The project scope includes research, setting of 138 total aerial targets, establishment of vertical and horizontal control, and aerial survey and mapping of the 32 campuses, extending into the street right-of-way and nearby properties.
Once complete, the topographic map will provide CUSD with an accurate and comprehensive overview of its campuses, which can be utilized for future renovation or expansion projects.
David Byrum serves as the Principal Engineer for this project and Octavio Solorza leads the team’s design and analysis as Project Manager. Survey Manager Chris Duncan and the design and drafting staff provide additional support.
Civiltec began working on this project in July 2018. The estimated completion date for the mapping is March 2019.
