Staff Spotlight: Vie’Zora Rasberry

CAD Drafter

We’re so happy to have you on our team! Now that it has been a few months, we’d love to know a little bit more about you! Let’s get started, shall we?

What did you do before joining Civiltec? (Work/School)

Before Civiltec, I was a CAD Drafting Specialist for Takeda Pharmaceuticals Los Angeles managing, updating, and designing drawings for the Los Angeles, Van Nuys, and Thousand Oaks manufacturing plants which included all sectors of engineering and design using validated software to maintain FDA compliance.

What made you decide to pursue a career in engineering?

I’ve always enjoyed drawing and being in a creative atmosphere so I pursued a career in engineering because it felt most natural to me.

What drew you to work for Civiltec?

I wanted to gain more experience in civil engineering and GIS and it seemed like the perfect opportunity. After meeting Dan Busqué and the staff, I was very pleased and excited to join an amazing organization.

What do you enjoy about your day-to-day work?

There is always something new to learn and I wholeheartedly embrace it. It’s great!

What has been one highlight of the past three months?

One highlight was visiting the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena for a site visit. I had always wanted to visit and it was amazing. Octavio Solorza was great. He reminded me of a tour guide from Universal Studios. Awesome!

What do you do beside’s working?

I enjoy spending time with my family, stargazing, and I’m a softball mom. I am also on the administrative board of my daughter’s softball organization currently holding a seat as Parent Liaison. Here are a few pictures I would like to share:

You love star gazing when did this hobby start and what do you like about it?

My stargazing hobby started as a child about 8 years old. My family and I would drive to Texas for our annual vacation and at night outside of the city, especially in Arizona and New Mexico, the rest areas were beautiful at night. No light pollution or moonlight… only the brightness from the stars filled the night sky. I almost felt like I would float away. I love the exploration and mystery of the unknown in stargazing. It’s beautiful and majestic!

Anything interesting that you have seen in the sky?

I enjoy watching meteor showers… Perseid and Orionid. They are cool. I also have apps that track planet alignments.
