Tom Fisher

Part-Time Engineering Technician – Phoenix

Where did you attend college, and what did you study?

I attended multiple colleges studying Civil Engineering and Construction Technology. The University of New Hampshire, the University of Maryland, and Park College are a few of the schools that I attended.

What drew you to work for Civiltec? What do you like best about working at Civiltec (so far)?

Remundo Garcia and I worked together at the City of Phoenix from 2006 to 2019 when I had pseudo retired. When Remundo notified me regarding available part-time work and highlighted the flexible hours I immediately applied. I have various appointments throughout the year as well as renovations to my rental home which means I need a job that allows me to keep those appointments. I tend to schedule all the work on Fridays so having every other Friday off really helps me out as well. Other than the flexible work hours the office is a very pleasant work environment. Everyone is so friendly, and most importantly, helpful, which as the new person and part-time at that is really nice to have.

Is there a particular hobby, interest, or skill you have that other employees might not know about?

I like reading David Baldacci novels and non-fiction and drawing portraits. I also enjoy playing golf from time to time and have made the once-in-a-lifetime shot of an Eagle during a game.

Do you have a favorite type of project and if so, can you please provide an anecdote or example of one?

I do not have a favorite type of project currently, but I do tend to aid the team day to day on Conflict Reviews. We sure are busy with those.
