Stephen “Sky” K. Younger, PE

PRINCIPAL ELECTRICAL ENGINEER – PHOENIX

Sky Younger Where did you attend college and what did you study?
I attended the University of Nebraska and studied at the Lincoln Campus. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

What drew you to working for Civiltec? What do you like best about working at Civiltec so far?
I was drawn to Civiltec by the opportunity to work on large projects and to see my design ideas come into reality. I like the friendly and cooperative atmosphere of the employees, as well as the closeness of the office. Both of these qualities are allowing me to better balance my professional and family life.

What are some of your favorite types of projects to work on?
Upgrade projects are my favorite, especially where we can take something that is both old and failing, and renovate it into something that has new life and value well into the future.

When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?
One of my passions is to help the developmentally disabled achieve a more inclusive life into society. I am presently the Chairman of the Board for Developmental Enrichment Centers that provide day treatment and training for the more severely disabled population in the NW Phoenix area.  I’ve also been the founder and president of a Christian missionary organization that rescued infant baby girls from infanticide in India. While with that organization I had to opportunity to meet Mother Theresa while in Calcutta (present day Kolkata).

Is there a particular hobby, interest, or skill you have that other employees might not know about?
I enjoy boating on Lake Pleasant (north of Phoenix) and buying investment homes to rent to low-income families. Aside from that, I enjoy wine, gourmet cooking, and home brewing beer.
