Where did you attend college and what did you study?
I attended the National Education Center, where I studied Computer-Aided Drafting (CADD). I picked this field because it was a new era of drafting that had just been introduced into the world of architecture and engineering by the formation of Autodesk and the release of AutoCAD and Pro/Engineer.
What drew you to working for Civiltec? What do you like best about working at Civiltec?
I worked for Civiltec a few years ago and was excited about the opportunity to come back. I enjoy working in the civil engineering world with a great company and wonderful co-workers.
What are some of your favorite types of projects to work on?
I very much enjoy working on Infrastructure projects, Land Planning, Grading & Drainage, as well as Water and Wastewater Facilities. My favorite side project has been the Veterans Memorial in Fort Bayard, New Mexico. After they received only 60% of the asked budget for the construction of a new building and the facilities infrastructure, I was able to help out by pulling together some local New Mexico and Arizona vendors to donate their time and resources to complete the project.
When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?
I love spending time with my family in New Mexico and here in Arizona. I travel frequently to spend time with my parents. I especially enjoy spending time with my grandchildren at the Arizona Children’s Museum in Mesa, attending professional and ASU sporting events, and teaching them the importance of having fun outdoors by taking them camping, hunting, fishing, and hiking.
Is there a particular hobby, interest or skill you have that other employees might not know about?
Fun fact: I worked as a reinforcement rebar detailer for the past five years, learning a new skill and all I could about the new rebar micro mill in Mesa – the first of its kind in the Southwest.
