CHRISTY SIPOS
MARKETING MANAGER – PEORIA
What are some of your favorite types of projects to work on? What are your particular topic/project specialties?
In general, I love organizing! I particularly like getting hands-on with organizing marketing plans and materials and, thanks to the steady growth of projects here in the Arizona offices, there is lots to organize. I also like working on anything that is client-facing (such as conferences and events), and strategizing on how to win project bids.
What drew you to working for Civiltec?
I knew Chris Dusza through a mutual contact, and I’ve met Rick Schroads, Andrew Shroads, and David Byrum at conferences in the past. They all struck me as nice, honest, hardworking people. This is a solid engineering firm and I have enjoyed working in the engineering field for many years, so it was a natural fit. One of the things that was especially attractive to me was the opportunity to expand Civiltec’s market base in the West Valley of the Phoenix/Metro area, because I’m a West Valley resident.
Were you born and raised in Arizona?
Pretty much! I have lived in Arizona since I was 8 years old, always in or around the Phoenix area.
What do you like about working at Civiltec so far?
First: the people. Everyone here is really friendly and quickly made me feel like part of the team. Second: there is a lot to do, and I always find it rewarding when work keeps you busy and on your toes. I don’t like doing the same thing day in and day out. I like being able to bounce back and forth between marketing strategy, helping with project proposals, and organizing.
What are some of the projects you’re working on now?
Proposals, Proposals & more Proposals! I will also be the keeper of resumes, project description, and general marketing information. This data is key to marketing ourselves for future projects. One of my larger responsibilities right now is developing a Marketing Plan–identifying potential clients, strategizing on how to make inroads with those clients, and organizing trade show opportunities for Civiltec.
What are some of your short-term and/or long-term goals for Civiltec’s AZ marketing?
With the market definitely picking up here in Arizona, we are starting to see a lot of movement. This is a great time for Civiltec to figure out and define who/where we want to be. In Arizona, I would love for Civiltec to be known as more than a Northern Arizona firm–we can be a go-to firm for the West Valley Communities as well. I also look forward to continuing to expand our staff as we expand our market growth.
When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?
I’ve been married for 22 years and our daughter is a senior in high school. In between her competitive volleyball practices, games and tournaments, we spend a lot of free time focusing on the next step in her life: college. When we can find the time, we like to relax on our boat at Lake Pleasant.
