Staff Engineer

We’re so happy to have you on our team! It’s been a while since we last spotlighted you! So let’s check in with you and see what’s happened over the last seven years!

What did you do before joining Civiltec? (Work/School)

I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in Mexico and started working for a construction company and then after a couple of years I decided to move to the U.S. and pursue a Master’s Degree in Transportation at Cal Poly Pomona.

What made you decide to pursue engineering?

From a very young age I was always fascinated by how stuff worked and how things were made, then I realized that I excelled in math, so I looked for something that incorporated all of this and found that engineering is what I’m most passionate about. I enjoy working on different projects, especially land development and transportation related projects.

What do you enjoy about your day-to-day life here at Civiltec?

I like the work environment and how we work as a team. I’m privileged to call my coworkers friends and I enjoy all the challenges that projects bring me every day.

What has been one highlight of the past year? (A favorite project, event, or day in general?)

A recent professional highlight was visiting the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and a recent personal highlight was having my daughter

Where can people find you on days off?

Spending time with my family and my dog, seeing friends or hiking.

If there was one thing you could say to young engineers?

My advice to new engineers is to be persistent, to always be curious and ask questions, we can learn something new every day from anybody.
