ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – PRESCOTT
What are you currently working on for Civiltec?
I take care of all the administrative details, like manning the phone lines, so the rest of the team can focus on their work. Right now, my biggest project is archiving old project data: a combination of dealing with scanning paper files and digital files.
What drew you to working for Civiltec?
I took some time off and was ready to get back into the workforce. I’ve done surveying in the past and liked it; I wanted to get into something peripherally related. A good friend of mine vouched for Civiltec, saying the company was full of great people.
What do you like best about working at Civiltec so far?
Definitely the people here. Everyone has been great and you can tell they like what they’re doing. There is a very strong team atmosphere here.
How long have you lived in Arizona?
I was born and raised in the Catskills in New York, but have lived in Arizona for the past 25 years, mostly in Flagstaff.
Not many Admin Assistants have a Class A license and can drive motorcycles and tankers. What led to you getting a Class A license?
I grew up on a farm and started driving farm equipment when I was seven years old. Later on, my father taught me to drive an 18-wheeler–I took to driving like a duck to water. I also used to race snowmobiles back before girls were really into extreme sports. During the economic downturn, I wanted something in my corner to fall back on if need be. It was so simple to get a Class A license.
When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?
I love relaxing at home, but I also really enjoy road trips on my motorcycle–that can be equally fun and relaxing for me. Combine that with my love of photography, and one of my favorite things to do is to put my camera on my bike and just go see anything worth looking at. Sedona’s the popular spot, but just riding on old Route 66, I always see something that’s photo-worthy whether it’s a historic site or a storm or just the way sun and rocks look.
